Melchior Wulpius was a singer and composer who served as cantor in Weimar from 1596. He was roughly of the same generation as Michael Praetorius (1571–1621). Although he was a renowned composer in his day, the first comprehensive recording of his works was produced by Capella D’Alemizia, led by René Michael Reder, on the “querstand” label.
