A collection of chamber concertos by Francesco Venturini (1675–1745) (AU-97775), and the “La Festa Musicale,” a North German Baroque ensemble that has released albums featuring Gregor Josef Werner’s (1693–1766) “Salve Regina” and “Pastorella” (AU-97799). Their highly anticipated third release, titled *Tales of Naples*, presents an innovative approach to the Neapolitan Baroque repertoire. The album features a lineup of magnificent works representing the heyday of Naples—then Europe’s third-largest city—including sensual arias and virtuosic concertos by composers active at the time, such as Alessandro Scarlatti, Francesco Mancini, and Nicola Fiorenza. On this album, under the direction of Barbara Heintlmaier—a recorder player in the early music world renowned for her innovative concepts and exceptional technique—the ensemble has ventured into new territory in collaboration with the promising young soprano Maria Radlner.
