Early music singer Mills and the Boreas Quartet Bremen perform together! A vibrant portrayal of the music performed at the court of Princess Margaret of Austria in the early 16th century! The Boreas Quartet Bremen and early music singer Dorothee Mills have recorded works from the “Bazevi Manuscript,” which were performed at the court of Princess Margaret of Austria. The “Bazévi Manuscript” was created in the early 16th century in the workshop of Pierre Alamille (1470–1536), a composer who also produced numerous musical transcriptions. It is a collection of chansons, motets, Masses, and other works from the Franco-Flemish school of the Renaissance period, preserving both vocal and instrumental compositions. With its focus on improvisational and virtuosic ornamentation, this album brings to life the rich and colorful nature of the music performed during that era. Based in the northern German city of Bremen, the Boreas Quartet Bremen is a recorder quartet that makes full use of a variety of recorders to achieve a remarkably wide range of expression, performing a repertoire that spans from the Renaissance to the present day.
