Mandelring Quartett

Description:

The second French album by the virtuoso Mandelring Quartet features Debussy and the world premiere recording of Jean Rivier! The Mandelring Quartet is the signature artist of the German audite label. Their previous album, "Pennies from Heaven" - Collection of Encore Works (AU-97786), presented a variety of music that transcended genres, conveying a new appeal of the string quartet. This was followed by an album (AU-97709) combining French composers Ravel and La Tomber. The highly anticipated new album is the second French album and combines Debussy and Jean Rivier. Debussy's only string quartet is a well-known masterpiece, dedicated to the Ysaÿe Quartet in 1893, and is now frequently performed as one of France's representative string quartets. Jean Rivier (1896-1987) was born in Villemombre, France. After studying philosophy, Rivier studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Musique et de Danse in Paris under Maurice Emmanuel, Jean Gallon, and others. He then became a professor of composition from 1947 to 1966.He left about 100 compositions during his lifetime, tackling a variety of genres, from symphonies, operas, ballets, concertos, and other large works to chamber music, psalms, songs, and more. The two string quartets recorded here are varied and passionate works. The world premiere recording has now been realized. The ensemble of the Mandelring Quartet is extremely stable. New member Andreas Wilvoer, viola, was born in Erfurt, Germany, and graduated from the Weimar School of Music. After graduating from the Weimar Conservatory, he switched to viola and studied with Alfred Lipka at the Hans Eisler Higher School of Music in Berlin. He was also trained by renowned performers such as Kim Kashkashian and Christoph Poppen. Since then, he has performed at international music festivals and is a member of the Faust Quartet, and has been principal of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2001. King International
