The Swiss Piano Trio's fourth Beethoven cycle features Beethoven's Piano Trio No. 4 in E-flat major, Op.38. The Swiss Piano Trio was formed in 1998 and has won numerous competitions. This fourth disc includes Piano Trio No.4 "Folk Songs", Allegretto, and Piano Trio in E-flat major, Op.38. The theme of the third movement of No. 4, commonly known as the "Folk Song" because of the triplet from J. Weigl's Ilcorsaro, a popular opera in Vienna at the time, is an impressive work with a full, powerful, and gorgeous melody. The Piano Trio in E-flat major, Op.38 is Beethoven's arrangement of the Seventh Quartet, Op.20, and is a bright, lively, and magnificent work by Beethoven in his early 30s. The virtuoso Swiss Piano Trio's precise Beethoven can be heard in this performance. The cellist Sebastian Singer, who has been with the orchestra for many years, has been replaced by Alexander Neustroev, who joined the trio in the summer of 2016.In addition to Beethoven, the Swiss Piano Trio has also released a collection of piano trios by Eduard Frank (1817-1893) (AU97690), Tchaikovsky's "Memories of a Great Artist" (AU92673), and Clara Schumann's piano trio (AU92549) on the audite The label continues to release high quality recordings on its King International
