Abbado's "Unfinished" with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1978 and his Beto 2 & Siegfried Pastorale with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in 1988. Among the many masterpieces Abbado left behind, the audite label is urgently releasing a live recording from the Lucerne Festival. Schubert's "Unfinished" with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was recorded in September 1978. Abbado was appointed Artistic Director of La Scala in 1977 and Chief Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra in 1979. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which has an outstanding affinity with Schubert, is also a major attraction of this concert.Later, Abbado also conducted the Chamber Orchestra of Europe to complete a recording of the complete symphonies in Schubert's own handwriting, and it is interesting to compare the two recordings. Abbado was known for his enthusiasm for working with young musicians until the end of his life, and when he met with them, his music sounded very lively. The Beethoven and Wagner performances conducted by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, which Abbado himself founded, also showed these aspects. Abbado was also inspired by the highly expressive and precise ensemble of the young members, who are his admirers, and they gave an extremely refined performance with impressive transparency and beauty.
