Internationally Acclaimed Japanese Pianist Eiko Harada: Schumann / Kreisleriana Eiko Harada is a highly accomplished pianist renowned for her remarkable power and suppleness. Based in Europe, she has earned high acclaim for her performances. Her previous album, “Tchaikovsky: The Seasons / Rachmaninoff: Variations on a Theme by Corelli” (AU92569), received rave reviews in the April 2009 issue of Gramophone magazine. This album features a Schumann program commemorating the 200th anniversary of his birth, including the dramatic masterpiece *Kreisleriana*. The program includes the “Fantasy,” brimming with Romanticism; the “Arabesque,” with its beautiful nuances and distinctive melancholy; and the “Kreislériana.” The “Kreislériana,” consisting of eight movements, takes its title from “Kapellmeister Kreislér,” a character in E.T.A. Hoffmann’s novel. It is a masterpiece that musically interprets literature. This performance masterfully conveys Schumann’s passionate side while avoiding excessive sentimentality.
