Description:

The Tulln und Taxis family, which had a castle in Regensburg, monopolized the postal rights in Germany, and amassed a large fortune. Its court orchestra included the excellent oboe player Giovanni Palestrini, and the city developed as a center of music in the second half of the 18th century. The court library contains more than 100 oboe concertos. This CD contains four rare works selected from among them. The concertos are gems with a hint of classical and even early romanticism, and you can hear them performed with great pleasure by the master oboe players such as Bernardini and Bosch, with Leffler, the head of the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music, playing at the center.
