The spirited Amphion Wind Octet presents a collection of works by wind virtuoso Dorzhetsky Georg Dorzhetsky, a native of the Czech Republic who spent 25 years in Austria and then more than 30 years in Hungary, where in 1783 he became a member of the Society of Viennese Musical Artists and acquired the characteristics of the Viennese classical school. Then, around 1800, he became a composer at the court of Archduke Joseph Anton Johann of Buda, and in 1813 he became the conductor of a wind octet, ending his life in Buda. At the time, composers of the Harmonie Musik in Vienna, such as Johann Wendt and Joseph Triebensee, arranged a wide variety of music, including operas, marches, and ballets, but Drushetzky limited himself to a select few composers, including Haydn's oratorios and Beethoven's chamber works.
