This is a big deal! Finally, the first authorized release from the archives! The long-awaited complete performance of Knappertsbusch's "Lohengrin" live at the Bayerische Staatsoper in 1963. This is the first time that a live performance of "Lohengrin" from the Bayerischer Staatsoper is available, and it is the first time that an authentic recording from the Bayerischer Rundfunk has been made available. This performance, featuring Bayreuth's regular Helden tenor Hans Hopp in the title role, was recorded in 1963, the year before Knappertsbusch's last appearance at the Bayreuth Festival. The performance of "Parsifal" at Bayreuth, which has been called Knappertsbusch's best work, was recorded in 1963, the year before Knappertsbusch's last appearance at the Bayreuth Festival.For Knappertsbusch and Wagner fans, this is one of the biggest buzz discs.
