Originally intended exclusively for members, this was a special CD that required membership in the Furtwängler Center; however, following persistent negotiations between our company and ORFEO, it has now been made available to the general public. This is a completely new source for Furtwängler’s 1951 “Bayreuth Ninth,” distinct from the EMI recording. The quality of the performance has already been well established. No amount of words can fully convey the significance of this recording from the Bavarian Radio archives. Without a doubt, this is the definitive choice for this year’s Ninth.
