You can also hear Savarisch's "Götterdämmerung"! The famous soprano Bjoner, live in Munich in her prime! Ingrid Bjoner (1927-2006), a famous soprano from Norway, was active as a dramatic soprano in the 1960s and 1970s, but her true value has not been well known in Japan because there are few recordings of her despite her ability. This CD contains live recordings from her heyday at the Bavarian State Opera. The highlight is the "Götterdämmerung" from June 30, 1976, conducted by Sawallisch. The recording includes the prologue duet (Siegfried is performed by Jean Cox) and the end of the third act (recorded to the end, so you can enjoy plenty of Savarisch's conducting), totaling a little over 30 minutes. Björner's fresh and dignified Brünnhilde is truly magnificent. The "Fidelio" also conducted by Sawallisch was recorded live on July 26, 1974.There have been few recordings of Björner's Italian operas. The "Power of Fate" was recorded live on February 3, 1974. Inbal conducted it as a young man. The Masked Ball" was recorded live on February 15, 1970. It was conducted by Hagar. Turandot" was performed live on March 30, 1967 (monaural only). Up to this time, the performance was in German, and the cast is quite interesting, with Jean Cox's Caraf and Claire Watson's Liu. Björner's Nordic voice is truly ice princess, chilling!
