The 20th installment of the Haydn Complete Symphonies series by Thomas Fai and the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra is now available! This new recording from January 2013 features Symphony No. 43 in E-flat major, “Mercury,” Symphony No. 25 in C major, and Symphony No. 36 in E-flat major. As with the previous release, Thomas Fai’s skill shines through in this exceptionally dynamic and spirited performance. Symphony No. 43 in E-flat major, “Mercury,” is believed to have been composed before 1772 and is characterized by a chamber-music-like sound reminiscent of Haydn’s string quartets. Although the title “Mercury” was not given by Haydn himself, it goes without saying that this is one of his most representative works. In addition, Symphony No. 36, which shares the same theme as “Mercury,” is also a work with a gentle atmosphere. King International
