Kremer & Meissenberg Duo Recital Kremer made an impressive debut in the West at a concert in Germany in 1975. In 1976, he appeared at the Salzburg Festival under Karajan's baton, and in 1977, he made his New York debut, In 1977, Kremer gave a duo recital at the Schwetzingen Festival with his friend Meissenberg, "the first person I could tell everything to. They also shared the stage for a recital in Munich in 1975, which the music critic Joachim Kaiser called "an incident. Here, the brooding, contemplative Prokofiev is unparalleled, without a shadow of a doubt.Despite the glitz and glamour of this period, the performances seem to be overshadowed by the ongoing tensions with the Soviet authorities. The program is very worthwhile, with an elaborate program including Webern, Schubert, and Beethoven's 10th, which was also recorded in 1994 in the same session with Meissenberg.
