Super Radical! A renewal of the conventional reputation! Salieri made a strong impression with his overture to "Talar" Act II, which was the only piece included in the much-talked-about "New Year's Concert in Heidelberg" (98.269), a collection of Salieri's overtures and ballet music performed by Fai. Now, Salieri leads a newly established ensemble specializing in Mozart and Mannheim School composers to launch a full-scale series of recordings, including world premieres. Salieri's first work to come out of the ensemble is "Armida," a reworking of his mentor Gluck's work. Paphiopedilum and Milla," with its magnificent fanfare in the middle, is the ballet music performed during the music drama "Europa unseen. The Chimney Sweepers," commissioned by Emperor Joseph II and Salieri's first German-language opera, was a great success. As usual, Fai's super-intense performance conveys the appeal of these heavy cracks and shadows of music, and is so stunning that it renewed Salieri's reputation.Note that this is the first collection, and we can expect a great deal more to follow. ［Comments courtesy of King International.]
