A commemorative release for the 90th anniversary of the birth of Arilbert Reimann (1936-2024), who passed away in 2024 at the age of 88. "Dream Play" is the first opera Reimann ever wrote. The legendary 2018 Hof Theatre production, enthusiastically praised by critics and audiences alike, and described by Reimann himself as "exactly as I had envisioned it," is finally available on CD. Vocal works were central to Reimann's compositional activity, with literature serving as his primary source of inspiration. "Dream Play," with its vivid visual imagery, captivates listeners from the very first notes through its richly varied and intensely expressive melodies. Lyman intuitively captures the fundamental theme of "compassion" from Strindberg's play, culminating in Indra's daughter carrying back to the god Indra a "gift" containing humanity's sorrows, sufferings, and lamentations, conveyed through masterfully constructed music. Rilke was also one of the writers who influenced Lyman."For there is nowhere to stay" combines the text's recitation with expansive orchestral music to create a compelling melodrama. According to Lyman's own explanation, the music in this work is not merely background; it stands as an independent musical composition, constantly interacting with the words.
