Julian Banze, a soprano singer who also specializes in modern and contemporary repertoire, presents a collection of vocal works by three of the most important composers of contemporary German music. Banze, who first encountered these three composers early in her career, has since been involved in the premieres of many of their works and has acquired a thorough knowledge of their musical language. The Reimann is almost entirely unaccompanied solo, with occasional squeaky instrumental accompaniment. The scenic Henze alternates between three orchestral pieces and two arias in a "nocturne"; Rihm is a 25-minute single movement with a big, rewarding development.
