Musikfabrik x 10th edition of Wergo's "Edition Musikfabrik" series of thematic contemporary works by multiple composers! Since the beginning of human history, people have been thinking about the afterlife. Belief in an afterlife has been a comfort and salvation for people. In modern times, faith has waned, and it has already been a long time since Nietzsche's famous "God is dead" appeared on the scene. How does the absence of God affect music, and where do people who have lost their stronghold go? This disc, the tenth in Wergo's "Editions Musikfabrik" series performed by the Ensemble Musikfabrik, contains three works that address these questions. Káger's "At the Beding Grave" is unfinished at the end of the last line of the text, due to the composer's death. The poem by Heine was also written at the cushion grave, which means a bedridden bed.Comprised of 15 songs created by two artists on the verge of death, the songs directly reflect the human attempt to overcome reality through art at a time when we are facing death. The title of "When All Gestures Have Ended" is taken from a passage in the "Book of the Last Testament" by the Italian poet Edoardo Sanguinetti, who died in 2010: "When all gestures of affection have ended, it ends in music. Philidei, who finds "life and death" in the birth and disappearance of sound, uses the voices of the players and the sound of glass in addition to instruments to create a lament that is somehow fragile. Sandwiched between the works focusing on "death" is "Black Jack," a sound and video work by Vaile. This piece, which has a strong presence even when there are no images but only music, as in this CD, may be oriented toward "life," which is at odds with death.
