Composed in 1744, Telemann's Luke Passion is one of the most highly regarded of his choral works because of its large-scale choral grandeur. The choruses, especially "Weissage uns," "Kreuzige ihn" (Crucify Him), "Bist Du Christus" (Is He the Christ?), etc., which are performed in the chorus of the crowd are highly praised for their large scale choral grandeur. (Bist Du Christus), which are based on short and impressive texts, Telemann's extremely strict, simple, and intuitive musical expression (Declamation) is overwhelming to the listener. Jarosław Thiel, longtime first cellist of the Dresden Baroque Orchestra and a highly acclaimed conductor, will lead the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra, one of the leading Polish ensembles in the field of ancient instrumental music (the Witold Lutosławski National Music Forum's resident ensemble), for which he has also served as artistic director since 2006. The Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra (an ensemble affiliated with the Witold Lutosławski National Music Forum), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, will be joined by the Dresden Chamber Choir and an impressive lineup of soloists to shed light on Telemann's magnificent and large-scale works.
