[With Japanese Notes] Johannes Plamzoller, a Baroque violinist of the “21st-century generation” who has spread his wings from South Tyrol to the world. As the founder of Ensemble Diderot and the International Baroque Players, and a member of his mentor Rachel Podger’s Brecon Baroque, is releasing a new recording on his independent label, “Audax Records.” This collection features “Sonatas for Harpsichord and Violin” from the 18th century—a period when the harpsichord reigned supreme and French music entered a new golden age. Beginning with Mondonville’s *Collection of Clavichord Pieces in Sonata Form with Violin Accompaniment*, published in 1740, this recording chronicles the history of “clavichord pieces with violin,” a genre that was successively developed by Colette, Clément, Guillmann, Marchand, Barbat, Dufrê, and others. The harpsichord—which plays a pivotal role in this genre—is performed by Philippe Grisval, who, in addition to his work with Ensemble Diderot, serves as a key continuo player in numerous early music ensembles, including the European Chamber Orchestra, Le Poème Harmonique, and Ensemble Marchaud. He is a renowned French harpsichordist who has appeared on many acclaimed recordings by Plumzoler and has also made his solo debut on Audax Records. Tokyo M-Plus
