Les Dissonances

Description:

Grimal and Les Dissonances lead the way to Chausson, Ravel, and Enescu. The performance is without a conductor. The inclusion of the Poem and Tzigane alone is enough to make one want to listen to this program, but the main work is the Romanian Fantasia, a work by Enescu, who was born in Romania. The Romanian Fantasy was written by Enescu between 1925 and 1949, but was never completed, and in the 1990s it was supplemented by the composer Cornel Taranu. The music evokes the dusty soil of a village and the voice of an old man singing a story by the roadside. The piece also requires great virtuosity on the violin, as Enescu was a virtuoso violinist himself. While Enescu's music has its roots in the traditional music of his native country, it is also deeply influenced by the world of French music of the early 20th century.Grimal has been fascinated by Enescu since he heard a performance of Enescu's Violin Sonata No. 3 by the composer himself and Lipatti when he was young. At the young age of 15, Enescu enrolled at the Paris Conservatory, where he took counterpoint classes with Ravel, who described Enescu as his most gifted student. He was also in the same violin class as Thibaud. He studied composition under Massenet and Fauré, and was able to master the most advanced musical language of the time. This disc features Enescu's works as the main part of the program, and also includes "Poems" and "Tzigane," which Enescu often performed, and which brings out Enescu's charms very clearly. Born in 1973, David Grimal began playing the violin at the age of five. He studied at the Paris Conservatory under Régis Pasquier. In addition to his activities as a soloist, he founded the conductorless ensemble Les Dissonances in 2004. In 2008, she received the "Chevalier" decoration. He teaches at the Saarbrücken University of Music and conducts master classes all over the world. He plays a Stradivarius "ex-Roederer" made in 1710. Les Dissonances...An ensemble formed by Grimal in 2004, consisting of soloists who have performed in the world's top orchestras, renowned chamber musicians, and young talents. The ensemble is led by Grimalu, who does not stand on the podium. King International
