The prodigious organist, Ratley releases his Liszt album! Saint-Saens, Guieux, and Dupré arrangements are also featured! Olivier Latry, the world-renowned French organist prodigy, has recorded Liszt's works! This album includes works by Saint-Saens, Guieu, Dupré, and Latry's arrangements. The "Prelude and Fugue in Bach's Name" is one of Liszt's most famous works, with a first draft from 1855 and a revised version from 1870, which was substantially revised for performance in Weimar. Liszt also arranged the same piece for piano. Organist Jean Guilloux (1930-2019) reworked this work in the "Fantasy and Fugue in Bach's Name" [Moderato + Andante + Fugue + Maestoso], blending the three versions (first manuscript, revised manuscript, and piano version) to create the rich sound of Liszt without adding any notes. The result is a rich sound of Liszt's music without adding a note. This version, arranged by the genius organist Guilloux in a way that makes the most of the characteristics of the organ, which reminds one of an orchestra, is an undisputed work of superb virtuosity. In addition to the above, you will also enjoy the Dupré-arranged variations on Bach's cantata "Weep, Lament, Grieve, and Fret," Saint-Saens' arrangement of "St. Francis of Assisi Preaching to Little Birds," and Olivier Latry's arrangement of Love Dream No. 3, which he himself arranged, giving a French flavor to Liszt's works.The final piece is a fantasy and fugue on the chorale "Ad nos, ad saltarem undam" ("To us, those who seek the salvation of our souls") on a theme from the opera "The Prophet" by Maierbeer. This work with Liszt's typical technique and colorful melody is scattered with unique harmonies called Neo-Romanticism, and is a large piece with a playing time of 30 minutes. (Japanese commentary and obi are not included.) The performer, Ratley, was appointed at the young age of 23 as the principal organist of the grand organ installed in Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, and since then has been active as a concert organist and one of the world's most outstanding performers. In April 2019, a fire broke out in Notre Dame Cathedral, shocking the world. Bach to the Future (LDV-69), recorded in January of the same year, became a rare recording of the organ sounding in the cathedral before the disaster and remains a huge best-seller.
