Geoffroy Côté: A Life Devoted to Brahms The Concerto Project Begins! Also features Bach’s Chaconne, arranged by Brahms Geoffroy Couteau, a pianist who lives for his love of Brahms. Following his recordings of all of Brahms’ solo works and all of his chamber music for piano, his concerto project is now underway. Having fully mastered both solo works and chamber music, Côté’s concerto performances capture the grandeur of these works without being overshadowed by the orchestra. Furthermore, the album is paired with Bach’s Chaconne, arranged by Brahms. Brahms, who revered Bach, arranged this chaconne while connecting with Bach’s spirit and thinking of Clara Schumann—a figure close to his heart—as well as Joseph Joachim, the great violinist of his time. Coutot performs this piece with a passionate tone. The Metz National Orchestra (formerly known as Orchestre National de Lorraine) is the resident orchestra at the Arsenal Hall, the recording base for the La Dolce Volta label.
