World-renowned Olivier Latry is releasing an all-Bach program album "Bach to the Future" on the La Dolce Volta label! At the young age of 23, Latry became the principal organist of the grand organ installed in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and since then he has been active as a concert organist and one of the world's most outstanding performers. His repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music, and he is also known as an overwhelmingly gifted improviser. This recording of Bach is a return to his roots. In the 1990s, Rutley recorded Bach's major organ works for the BNL label, and later, in 2003, he recorded Bach's Chaconne and other Bach works as organ transcriptions for the DG label. This is the first recording of an all-Bach program in a quarter of a century, and it is a recording that has come full circle. The recording is the first time in a quarter of a century that the organist has recorded an all-Bach program. The orchestra plays Cavaillé-Coll's large organ in the Toccata and Fugue and the Passacaglia and Fugue with skillful registration.The pipe organ's changing tones, which are like a kaleidoscope, are astonishing. In the Fantasy and Fugue in G minor, BWV 542, commonly known as the "Grand Fugue," Ratley consulted Liszt's piano arrangements and other works when performing the piece, and in the Fantasy, he added many chords based on his own interpretation. Taking into consideration the reverberation of the cathedral's 7-second reverberation, the piece depicts a truly fantastic world. The booklet also includes a recording of the Bach works by Rutley himself, with his own interpretation of many of the chords. The booklet includes an explanation of the concept of this album, a description of the music, and a Japanese translation of Cavaillé-Coll's organ. King International
