Description:
Master Poullet, who is on the verge of extinction, will perform with young Japanese talent in an enchanting world of chic and clean performances. His father is Gaston Poulet, who performed Debussy's violin sonatas with the composer for the first time in the world, and he studied with the master Schelling. He has many recordings to his credit, but none of the pieces on this album are his first. Although the album is titled "Russian Violin Sonatas," the only sonata on it is by Prokofiev, and Moszkowski is Polish. Rather, the French sensibilities of Stravinsky, Prokofiev, and Moszkowski, who lived in Paris, are reproduced with the virtuosity of Poullet. Poullet's solo performance can be fully appreciated in the "Italian Suite," an arrangement for violin and piano of Stravinsky's ballet music "Pulcinella," based on the Pergolesi material, and "Five Melodies," an arrangement of Prokofiev's song cycle, also by the composer himself. Also, in Prokofiev's Sonata for Two Violins, the last work of his Paris period, he performed an unaccompanied duet with Misa Mamiya, Poullet's favorite pupil, born in 1994. She supports the hard-working Mamiya. The "Suite for Two Violins and Piano" from Moszkowski's mature period is an unusual form for a man known as a piano composer, but it is a valuable original work in this orchestration and is often performed because it is full of gorgeous and beautiful melodies. It is a rare opportunity to hear it performed by Poulet. Tamayo Ikeda, who plays the piano part, studied piano with Jacques Louvier and chamber music with Jean-Michel Dammers at the Conservatoire de Paris after her studies at Toho Gakuen School. She is a winner of the Poulenc International Piano Competition. King International
