The Haydn Piano Concerto Collection from the independent label "Piano21" of Cyprian Katsaris, the wizard of the keyboard, the incarnation of superlative technique! Beginning with the best-known piano concerto in D major by Haydn, the master of the Classical period, the album also includes a concerto for violin and piano with Stephanie Gonley, the first violin of the Nash Ensemble and concertmaster of the English and Scottish Chamber Orchestras. The concerto for violin and piano is recorded at the same time. Also included is a piano concerto in G major, a work composed in the year of Mozart's birth and rarely performed today, but lyrical and moving in its beauty. The second movement of this piece has no cadenza, so a cadenza has been introduced by Cyprian Katsaris, following Haydn's style, and is one of the highlights of the concerto. The conductor is the British master Neville Marriner, who passed away in 2016, and together with his hand-picked orchestra, the Academy Chamber Orchestra, he adds to Katsaris' performance with a sublime sound.
