Artemis is both the sister program to the iconic Apollo program and its rightful successor. *A Dream for Artemis* is a concerto for saxophone quartet, a work dedicated to the history of space exploration from 1957 to the present. Four astronauts will be aboard the Artemis space mission. Four astronauts—four saxophonists. Explorers of the universe of sound. The four instruments, crafted from shimmering metal, become rockets—and ultimately, a single dream. A special sapphire disc coated with titanium nitride, which launched alongside the rocket as part of the Artemis program, contains the Universal Declaration of Human Rights inscribed in over 20 languages, as well as the definitions of the International System of Units—including the kilogram, seconds, meters, and kelvins, as well as audio frequencies ranging from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, and the sheet music data for Fabian Waxman’s composition—and these recorded sounds are also included.
