Saxophonist Valentine Michaud and her brother, percussionist Gabriel Michaud, have taken the birdsong that has fascinated composers throughout the ages and reworked it into a combination of saxophone and percussion (sometimes with the addition of guitar) to present it in a new form, with an extraordinary depth and breadth of instrumental sound palette. The result is a new presentation of the voice of the bird, combined with saxophone and percussion (and sometimes guitar). Baroque, pop, and contemporary pieces all share the same source of birdsong, but the richness of their development is astonishing. This is a piece that will take you on a journey, riding on the wings of these two musicians. ＜Born in 1993, she was awarded the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award in 2020 and will make her debut at the Lucerne Festival in 2022 under the baton of Salonen. He is also a costume designer and a producer who leads collaborative projects with various artists. ＜Gabriel Michaud (percussion) was born in 2003.She won the first prize, the Audience Prize and the Critics' Prize at the TROPMP International Eindhoven Percussion Competition.
