This program features a selection of these songs, performed not with the original piano, violin, and cello, but with a composition that includes traditional instruments associated with Ireland. The clear, straight voice of soprano Keohane, who is well known in the Ricercar Consort's recordings of religious songs, and the ensemble led by Pierro make Beethoven's songs, which retain the original characteristics of folk songs with beautiful accompaniment, even more appealing.
