This album features works by Prokofiev and Ravel, as only a pianist of Russian descent born and raised in France can. The programming is well thought out, with all of the works being composed around the time of World War I, as well as the stylistic similarities between Ravel's "Couperin's Tomb" and Prokofiev's "Ten Pieces," both of which consist of gavotte, rigodon, and other classical dances. The program also ends with a heartrending rendition of the difficult Toccata by both composers.
