Outdoor Music by the Young French Pianist Kadush French-born pianist David Kadush has recorded works by Bach, Schumann, Janáček, and Bartók. At first glance, this selection of pieces may seem to have nothing in common, but Kadush’s guiding theme is “outdoors.” Bach’s Capriccio, written for his brother who was being posted abroad; Schumann’s “Forest Scenes,” composed in response to a poem featuring the “forest” as its motif; and Janáček’s “In the Mist,” written during a period when he was groping in the dark as a composer. Bartók’s “Outdoors,” which depicts music performed outdoors on the piano. With the exceptional expressiveness unique to Kadish, a musician of diverse musicality, he fully brings out the charm of each piece. King International
