Description:
A Collection of Schoenberg’s Piano Works by Contemporary Pianist Florent Boffard Florent Boffard was born in 1964. From 1988 to 1999, he was a pianist with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, an orchestra specializing in contemporary music led by Boulez. In 2000, as part of Harmonia Mundi France’s series showcasing young musicians, he recorded works by Debussy and Bartók (now out of print), delivering performances of exceptional artistry. This new release features a collection of piano works by Schoenberg, a central figure of the Second Viennese School. It ranges from the “Three Piano Pieces (1894),” beautiful tonal music composed in his youth, as well as his early works from the “Three Piano Pieces, Op. 11,” in which he was exploring his own unique techniques, all the way to the “Suite, Op. 25,” which marks his arrival at the twelve-tone technique—all presented with superb interpretations that bring the piano to life with dynamic movement, rich expression, and a full, resonant sound. In addition, the accompanying DVD features comprehensive content in which Boffar himself provides clear and accessible commentary on each of Schoenberg’s pieces. King International
