Cyprian Katsaris, the god of superb technique, has been performing more and more energetically in his 60+ years of age, always breaking our hearts both in his performances and recordings. This is a 5-CD set of 111 songs, which seems to condense all of Katsaris' musical activities. The album features original works that demonstrate Katsaris' excellent improvisations and arrangements, such as "Improvisation on 'Sakura,'" "Fantasy on 'Silent Night,'" and "Fantasy on 'Happy Birthday to You,'" which have been performed as encores at his recitals and attracted a great deal of attention. The Bach album "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" and "Badinelli" are hard to find, while Liszt's arrangement of Beethoven's Ninth, with some of his own arrangements, and Sifra's "The Flight of the Bumblebee" are among the many superbly crafted pieces on this album.Also included are piano transcriptions of many well-known pieces, such as the Meditation of Thais, Albinoni's Adagio, Pachelbel's Canon, Dignity, Sword Dance, Farandole, Ride of the Valkyries, Waltz of the Flowers, Concerto de Aranjuez, and many more.
