Volume 158 of the series focuses on Grieg's masterpieces. The "Peer Gynt" by Thomas Beecham and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, "Britain's national orchestra," is not a suite version, but an excerpt version of Beecham's own selections, which has been listened to for a long time even though it was recorded in 1956. It is one of Beecham's most famous recordings. The coupling is the Violin Sonata No. 2 by Jascha Heifetz, a great violinist who dominated the world of 20th century violin music.
