Diapason, a French magazine specializing in world-class classical music, has selected and reissued newly mastered masterpieces from the history of music in the series "Les Zandispansables de Diapason - Diapason's Choice of the Definitive Editions". The 136th collection in the series features Wanda Wieckomirska, David Oistrakh, and Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937), with Artur Rubinstein as soloist! The main work on the program is the Violin Concerto No. 1, with Wanda Wieckomirska, a famous Polish lady, as soloist. This 1961 recording is a masterpiece for Wieckomirska, who premiered many Polish works of her generation, and has been known as a representative masterpiece of Szymanowski's "Violin Concerto No. 1". The "Concerto Symphony" was dedicated to Rubinstein, who was an old friend of Szymanowski's, and the performance that Rubinstein recorded with the Los Angeles Philharmonic after the war was selected.The sound quality is also looking forward to improvement through remastering by Circe, a French mastering studio.
