American jazz singer Stacy Kent's second release on Naïve! Released in November 2023, 'Summer Me, Winter Me' gathers fan-requested tracks from her long-awaited concert repertoire. It debuted at #1 on the French jazz charts, adding a new highlight to her discography. The opening track, "Lucky To Be Me," serves as an invitation to the album's theme. Stacy's deliberate phrasing and exquisite pauses between words draw listeners into the album's world. "La Javanaise" showcases Stacy's beautiful French vocals, sounding effortless yet performed with astonishing musical precision. "A Time For Love" is an intimate ballad, featuring Stacy's surprisingly warm, resonant lower register. The album is a joy to listen to, both musically and sonically. Stacy Kent is an American singer who belongs to the lineage of great jazz vocalists. She boasts a devoted fan base and a distinguished record of honors and awards, including Grammy nominations. Her album sales exceed two million copies, with streaming plays surpassing one billion. Furthermore, her albums, which have earned Platinum, Double Gold, and Gold Disc certifications, have consistently topped the charts. Kent majored in comparative literature at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, and after graduating, she traveled to Europe with a passion for music to further her studies. A twist of fate brought her to London, where she enrolled in the postgraduate music program at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. There she met Jim Tomlinson, who would later become her husband and musical partner. Her musical journey began with piano lessons in her childhood. With a keen ear and sincere voice, she sought opportunities to express her love of music. However, there was nothing in her academic path that foreshadowed her rise to international fame as a jazz singer representing her generation.She has released 13 studio albums to date, including the platinum-certified and Grammy-nominated Breakfast on the Morning Tram (Blue Note/EMI 2007). She has also collaborated extensively and performed on stages in approximately 60 countries throughout her career. The reason fans around the world support her lies in her ability to express the emotional core of a song with delicate nuances that transcend borders and genres. Her unique multilingual repertoire includes standards, chansons, bossa nova, and original songs written by her husband, saxophonist, producer, composer, and arranger Jim Tomlinson, in collaboration with Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro. They have been collaborating since 2006. She has also performed with Brazilian masters Marcos Valle, Roberto Menescal, and Danilo Caymmi, as well as the renowned French string quartet, the Ébène Quartet.
