Their background spans Afrobeat, dub, funk, soul, roots reggae, and electronic music. Their sound emerges as a hybrid groove: rounded yet bouncing basslines; horns oscillating between warm harmonies and funk energy; gritty guitar textures and sparkling arpeggios; enveloping Rhodes; and a clavinet that slides, pushes, and embraces. Everything is assembled with precision and suppleness, culminating in a rich soundscape. With Ayo Dele, Ireke steps into a new chapter. The duo has refined their style, featuring two distinctive female vocalists: singer/rapper Nayel Hoxo, whose roots lie in Benin and Nigeria, and Agnes Helene, who has also made her presence felt with Tropikadelic on "Petit a Petit." Music that seeks resonance, not effect. Weaving a living soundscape between reinvented tradition and contemporary textures.
