Kubelík and the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra's 1959 Ninth Symphony, which has been rumored but never had a chance to be heard, has finally been released officially. Starting with a live performance with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 1958, Kubelík has recorded the 9th with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1959, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1970, 1975, and 1982, and the New Philharmonia Symphony Orchestra in 1974 (all live). The live performance with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra is a passionate performance by the 45-year-old Kubelik, who draws the audience in with a driving force reminiscent of Toscanini. Kubelík is the type of musician who burns live, and this live performance with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra is a burst of energy, and it is noteworthy that the playing time is faster than any of his recordings. Kubelik is famous as a conductor of Mahler and Bruckner, and this Beethoven sometimes sounds as intriguing as Brahms and Bruckner.The highlight is the last movement, where the melody of the "Ode to Joy" is first presented by the strings, and the exquisite tempo and singing style are typical of Kubelík. The singers are also excellent, especially the young Heflinger, whose beautiful voice is intoxicating. Although the sound is old due to age, the wonderful sound and dynamics have been reproduced, and you can fully enjoy the greatness of this legendary performance. King International
