Kubelik, Schuricht, and Stokowski Conduct the Orchestre National de France! A truly exquisite pairing—just what you’d expect from TAHRA. I can almost hear you all asking, “Where on earth should I put these?” However, since these recordings are all precious documents of these great conductors at the peak of their careers, I highly recommend keeping a complete set of four CDs in each of the Beethoven, Mahler, Mozart, and Brahms sections. Although the recordings are in mono, they are all excellent. The cover photo for this CD features Désiré Émile Engelbrecht conducting this orchestra—a detail unrelated to the music itself, which is typical of TAHRA. It is believed that this photograph was used because Angerbrechts conducted the orchestra’s very first concert on March 13, 1934. [Comment provided by King International]
