With a solid, funky sound and soulful vocals that pack a devastating punch in their modern soul, plus sweet soul featuring falsetto vocals, this astonishing soul group—HORIZON—has left a powerful impression on 7-inch collectors despite having released only four records, all while their true identities have remained shrouded in mystery. HORIZON is a soul band formed in San Antonio, Texas, in the early 1980s by the Boggess Brothers—Charlie, John, and Geoff. Later, “T-Bow” Gonzales joined as the vocalist, and the group made a name for itself throughout Texas as a soul group with overwhelming potential. Among the tracks included in this collection are many that, although never officially released, were played heavily on radio stations throughout South Texas, including their hometown of San Antonio. At the height of the band’s popularity, there was even a time when they shared the stage with leading major artists, including the Commodores. Now, 40 years later, the members—who had carefully preserved these recordings that had been forgotten due to unfortunate circumstances—have remastered them to the best of their ability, leading to the release of this CD.
