A commemorative album by an Australian string quartet featuring their final recording with their colleagues The Goldner String Quartet of Australia is releasing their latest album, *Child's Play*, featuring chamber music works by fellow Australian contemporary composer Karl Wein. This is a 2-CD set. Karl Vain is one of the most accessible and prolific composers of our time, having composed eight symphonies, 13 concertos, and numerous chamber works, as well as music for film, television, dance, and theater. This marks the Goldner String Quartet’s final recording, and they decided to produce this commemorative album alongside their long-time collaborator, Piers Lane, and other colleagues. The album’s title is taken from the String Quartet No. 6. In his own liner notes, Wein writes that he was commissioned to compose music that “uplifts, enlightens, and delights.” “Piers Lane and the Goldner String Quartet deliver a superb ‘Golden Age’-style performance… serving as the ideal guides” — BBC Music Magazine “A performance of such perceptiveness, balance, and (above all) irresistible cohesion” — *Gramophone* “Piers Lane’s talents are beyond praise.
