Georges Bizet, the composer best known for his opera Carmen, will celebrate the 150th anniversary of his death in 2025. Hyperion will release an album by Italian pianist Roberto Prosseda featuring all of Bizet's lesser-known solo piano pieces. All tracks are first recordings for Universal Music. The booklet includes liner notes by Hugh MacDonald, a world-renowned expert in Bizet studies. Roberto Prosseda was born in 1975 in Latina, Lazio, Italy. One of the most energetic and versatile Italian musicians on the contemporary international stage, he established his international reputation with his recordings of Mendelssohn's complete piano works, released on Decca from 2005-14 and collectively released as a box set in 2017. Over the past two decades, he has performed with the world's leading orchestras and conductors, and is especially acclaimed for his interpretations of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, and Chopin.The company also provides music criticism, produces radio and television programs, and organizes innovative music projects with an international perspective.
