A Debut Recording by an Award-Winning Hyperion Pianist in a Trio Setting An album featuring Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio and Schoenberg’s *Verklärte Nacht*, recorded by award-winning Hyperion pianist Andrei Gugnin in a trio setting, is set to be released. Although only 17 years separate these two works, at first glance the composers seem to inhabit entirely different worlds. Yet here, the pairing of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor, composed in 1882, and Schoenberg’s *Verklärte Nacht* (originally a string sextet), reveal a musical connection that spans from the great Russian Romanticism to pioneering Viennese modernism. This is the world premiere recording of *Verklärte Nacht*, newly arranged for piano trio by Henk Guitalt, one of the world’s leading Schoenberg scholars. Recorded by Gugnin alongside violinist Anna Lipkin-Mazor and cellist Dmitry Prokofiev, this album marks the debut recording of the “Amsterdam Piano Trio.” Universal Music/IMS
