The 11th album from Hyperion by the popular British male vocal ensemble that brings you "A Journey Through Time, Poetry, and Song" The award-winning British male vocal ensemble, the Gesualdo Six, is releasing their 11th album on the Hyperion label, titled *WishingTree*. For the first time, they have recorded a more secular repertoire than on their previous albums, featuring works they have performed on live tours since their formation in 2015. The program includes Renaissance works celebrating nature and love, as well as pieces by the 19th-century British poet Christina Rossetti and the contemporary Scottish poet Kathleen Jamie. Many of the songs shed light on childhood, evoking moments of innocence, and arrangements of traditional British and Irish folk songs are woven throughout, continuing the long-standing tradition of developing and transforming existing material. Music director Owain Park describes the album as “a journey through time, poetry, and song, rooted in a tradition that lives on in contemporary expression.” The Jesualdo Six tours regularly around the world, performing over 150 concerts annually. Recent performances have taken them to the UK, the US, Canada, Germany, France, Austria, Latin America, Japan, China, and Singapore. In addition to commissioning hundreds of new works from various composers, the ensemble regularly organizes composition competitions.
