Concerto for Piano and Orchestra(1960)*. Cristian Carrara(1977-). Silence of War(2015)* (*=world premiere recording) Performers] Roberto Prosseda (piano), London Philharmonic Orchestra, Neil Cavaletti (conductor) A rare collection of rare Italian piano concertos from the 20th and 21st centuries. Fano's "Andante e Allegro con fuoco" combines Romantic lyricism with a piano writing style reminiscent of Scriabin's; Dallapiccola's "Little Concerto" stands out for its neoclassical simplicity; Omizzolo's concerto is characterized by its rich tone and impressionistic sound; and Carrara's "Silence of War," which depicts the duality of war, and a variety of other works that provide an overview of Italian piano concertos of this period. The performer, Roberto Prosseda, is known as an advocate of contemporary Italian music and buried piano works, and his masterful technique brings out the best in his compositions. Roberto Prosseda is a pianist born in Latina, Lazio, Italy, and is one of the most active and versatile musicians in contemporary international music. He gained international fame with the release of his complete piano works by Mendelssohn, which he recorded between 2005 and 2014. He is also highly regarded for his interpretations of Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, and Schumann, and since 2011 he has been working on the revival of the pedal piano, bringing works by Alkan and Gounod to life in the modern age and performing them in numerous concerts. *Recording: March 2022, Henry Wood Hall, London, England.
