Vivanko’s Masses Performed by a Male Polyphonic Choir De Profundis is a male choir specializing in Renaissance music, founded in 2011 by Mark Doolish, who previously performed as a member of the I Fagiolini and the Cambridge Taverner Choir. Following their first release, *The Unknown Motets of Bernardino de Ribera* (CDA68141), this second album features the Masses and motets of Sebastián de Vivanco, a Spanish composer who was active during the same period as Victoria and served as music director at the Cathedral of Segovia, Ávila Cathedral, and Salamanca Cathedral. De Profundis has previously been conducted by world-renowned artists leading the early music scene, such as Andrew Parrott, Andrew Carwood, and Geoffrey Skidmore; for this recording, Robert Hollingworth, founder of I Fagiolini, leads the rich male-voice polyphony.
