The sacred works of great Renaissance composers such as Palestrina and Byrd, along with those of George Malcolm (1917–1997)—who served as music director of the Westminster Cathedral Choir from 1947 to 1959—are linked across time and space by “Gregorian chant,” forming a single narrative.
