The late Ian Carr (tp), a leading figure in the British jazz scene until his later years, led this famous British jazz-rock band in the 1970s. The members of "SNAKEHIPS ETCETERA" continue to participate in this album, and the sound itself is an extension of the previous album, and the band has developed the stylish sound/arrangement crossover line after "ROOTS", while steering towards a jazz funk line. The album also shows a rich variety of ideas, from the lively sound of "Phaideaux Corner," a jazz-funk number led by percussive drum playing reminiscent of Latin rock, to the abstract, rhythmless parts of the title track and "Splat," a big song that showcases each member's high compositional and arranging abilities. The high level of composition/arranging ability of each member is evident. The light interplay of guitars, keyboards, and wind instruments based on the groovy rhythm section is also an attractive feature of this album.
