This is the first solo album on Harmonia Mundi by flutist Gabriel Rubio. Rubio serves as principal flutist with Les Arts Florissants, Ensemble Correspondances, and other ensembles. On this album, he transports us to France from the late 17th to the early 18th century, presenting the music of the earliest French composers who established the flute (flute traversière)—then still a relatively new instrument—as a major voice in the musical landscape.
