Here comes the tenth installment in Arall's series of complete Bach keyboard works. Here the focus is on Leipzig's early years and takes us into the more intimate world of Kantor's Bach household. Trio sonatas are usually played by a single organ, with the right hand, left hand, and pedals developing a three-part ensemble, but here Allard plays these on harpsichord and clavichord, with an emphasis on intimacy. The natural and intimate playing is so surprising that it makes one wonder if this is the kind of sound Bach was playing at home. In addition, the musicians include various pieces from Anna Magdalena Bach's music books, which seem to recreate the musical dialogues in the Bach household. =Allard's words (excerpted from the booklet) =. The musical journey of this complete recording continues with encounters with a variety of instruments.Once again, I felt the urge to introduce the less explored world of sound that I am currently researching and investigating. In this tenth volume, following the brilliant concertos and dances of the previous volume, the emphasis was on the intimate environment of the family. In Bach's time, learning music was directly related to playing music in the family circle. In the case of the six trio sonatas, Bach did not specify the instruments to be used, but from the phrase "a 2 Clav et Pedale" (two keys and a pedal), it is easy to imagine that they could be played on any instrument with two manual and pedal boards, which were popular at the time. It should be possible to play it on a clavichord or pedal harpsichord, not to mention an organist. This was the instrumental solution that naturally occurred to me when I decided to opt for a more accessible version. The harpsichord, built by Philippe Humeau based on Carl Conrad Fleischer's original, which you have already heard in Volumes 3 and 4, appears again in three of the sonatas.In the other three pieces, Emile Jobin built the clavichord of Christian Gottfried Friederici, also played in Volume 8, and Jean Tournet built the clavichord of David Tannenberg All three instruments have pedal plates made by Kentin Blumenröder They are fitted with In the Music Book for Anna Magdalena, Gerinde Seemann's angelic voice, coupled with the historical clavichord of Johann Adolf Hass (1763), invites us into its world.
